Fireworks show bid is ‘bang out of order’

Horrified neighbours are protesting at a bid to allow concerts and firework displays at Lytham Hall.

Agents for the stately home, off Ballam Road, have applied for a licence for events including outdoor concerts, live music, firework displays, plays and films.

Alcohol could also be served if the application, by Nelson-based LHT Enterprises Ltd, is given the go-ahead.

One resident of nearby Sedwell Close asked the Fylde Borough Council to completely rule out firework displays’ saying: “I recall a couple of years ago, there was a celebrity wedding’ party at Lytham Hall. The evening ended with a massive firework display. We saw birds actually throwing themselves on the ground because they were so terrified and disorientated. This was a most unpleasant sight, and must never be allowed to happen again.

“If we had wanted noise, we could have gone to live on Blackpool promenade.”

An elderly couple on the same street said they were frightened for local pets, and wildlife including bats.
